I am thrilled to announce the premiere of The Impatient Crafter!! Please take 2 minutes to read this post, which will give you a little background as to why I decided to start this sub-project of The Freckled Key Photography.
Growing up, I always LOVED to make things! My mom had a “craft room” (a.k.a. junk closet full of every discarded item from nature, craft stores, schools supplies, the garbage, and possibly even the shower drain) in the house that I grew up in that I would rummage through at every opportunity and make whatever my little heart desired. This love of crafting followed me well into my adulthood, and my list of “hobbies” now includes: sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, jewelry design, sketching, photography, painting, card making, up-cycling, embroidery, etc…. Scott always teases me that I have enough “hobbies” for more than 10 people.
But, as my mother always jokes, I do not have any patience for crafting. Though I adore making things, it had better not take me longer than an hour or it will sit in my “unfinished projects” drawer for any number of years until I happen upon it again and decide if it will become what it was intended to be, or if I will unashamedly throw it away. Because of this, and because of my new found time, I have decided to start a blog series called “The Impatient Crafter”. These posts will detail any project I take on that took me, from start to finish, less than 30 minutes (because remember, if it takes longer than that, I will not finish it – ever). If you, like me, are an impatient crafter, these posts are for you!
And with that, I bring you Project #1: Ariel Seashell Necklace
A few additional notes on this project: The seashell I used was a find from Galveston, TX. The seashell already had a hole in it – you can find TONS of these on the coast! I do NOT recommend attempting to drill or puncture your own hole in a seashell – this will result in millions of tiny seashell bits scattered on your table and an unnecessary amount of frustration.
Thanks to my husband for providing the photography for this post, and thank YOU for reading! The Impatient Crafter will return on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or bi-anually basis to bring you more crafts under 30 minutes! You will find all of these projects listed together under the category “The Impatient Crafter”, seen on the right side of the blog screen.
Ah Ah Aaaahhh, Ah Ah Aaaahh (To the tune of The Little Mermaid song in which Ariel gives up her voice to the dreaded Ursula),

How cute! I think this is a great project, because I too like crafting but struggle to finish.
Btw, I love your photography! I noticed your work on facebook while perusing through a friend’s photos. Lovely work!
